Photographer Lily Bianchi's life is about to be turned upside down. She has just turned 24, and she's about to learn that she is very different from the person she thought she was.
While photographing a wedding, Lily looks through the camera lens to take a photo. She sees the father of the groom has become transparent. She has no idea what that means, but the next morning the bride calls her pleading for any pictures of her father as he passed away that morning. That is the first strange thing to happen…
Meanwhile, Lily has been waiting for her brother to give her a call for her birthday. She lives in Australia, and he lives in the U.K. He has never missed calling her. Until now.
A strange woman shows up the next morning telling Lily that James is missing and has been for a few days now. She needs Lily's help in finding him and if that wasn't enough news, the woman tells Lily that she is a witch. Now that she has turned 24, her witchy powers will manifest.
The strange woman tells Lily that she will help her learn what she needs to know. Lily is whisked away to a land far, far away, and adventures galore materialize as she sets about to find her brother.
The character development was enjoyable as was the interactions between the characters in the various scenarios. Miss Lister was kind enough to answer a couple of technical questions I had about her story. I appreciated that very much.
This was a fun story with developed characters, some humor, and a good few surprises. It is the first book I've read from Dionne Lister and will not be my last.
