What’s Mardi Gras Madness about?
Hardworking Roxy Reinhardt, the main character of Mardi Gras Madness by Alison Golden, experiences a moment when nothing is going right in her life in the Midwest. Roxy’s been dumped by her boyfriend, her coworkers are mean, and she’s not sure if she still has her miserable job. She spots carnival dancers twirling on a travel commercial and the freedom they exhibit touches her soul. Roxy impulsively books a trip to New Orleans and begins an unexpected adventure.
Tell us more…
Once in New Orleans, Roxy forms relationships with several local colorful characters and begins to feel oddly at home, in spite of the fact that it’s nothing like her life in Ohio. She loves the slightly run-down guesthouse where she’s rented a room for herself and her cat, Nefertiti. Unfortunately, it’s about to be sold to a developer. And then that developer is murdered in a nearby cemetery. Roxy finds herself smack dab in the middle of a murder mystery where she and her friends are the first suspects!
Why we liked it…
The delightful writing allows you to feel as though you’re becoming familiar with New Orleans and its charms, even if you’ve never been there. The friends Roxy makes are so eclectic and yet real that you wish you knew them, too.
