What’s Death Down Under about?
Champion skeleton Olympian Mikaela (Miki) King has left her home in the U.S.A. to run her aunt's cafe while she goes on an RV trip around Australia to get away from the press after being disgraced for taking a banned substance that was in some flu medication her doctor gave her.
Her first day in her new home has Miki facing down a customer and almost breaking his nose while defending herself from the punch he threw at her. Her second day goes downhill as soon as she gets to the cafe to open and finds the same man murdered on the front doorstep. Of course, the local cop makes her the chief suspect.
Tell us more…
She has help proving her innocence and tracking down the real murderer with help from Emily (one of the cafe's employees who is about the same age as Miki), and from a friend of Emily's mother who is in her 70's, and who has more surprises and ability than Miki ever thought an elderly woman could have.
Why we liked it…
I really liked the humor spaced throughout the story along with her having an elderly woman capable of so much more than most people would think possible of a senior citizen.
A Final Word…
Samantha Silver is a new author for me. I very much enjoyed this story and am looking forward to the next one in the series. Her writing style is similar to another favorite author of mine, and I find it easy to believe that she will become one of my go-to authors in the near future.
